Ravelry Peeps are the Best!

I know it's been like a bazzillion years since I last posted, but I just wanted to send out a public thank you to all the people on Ravelry!

I have started knitting again, now that I'm all done school, starting with finishing a sweater I started for my husband two years ago (oops!). I ran out of yarn with only 15 stitches to go. When I went to buy more, I found out the yarn company went out of business in January 2011. That's how out of it I am when it comes to the knitting world. Seriously.

Anyway, I headed over to Ravelry, where a ton of people have gone out of their way to help me. Despite the fact that I'm not active in blogging or posting or message boards... a complete stranger.

So thank you.

Wicked is Wicked

Finished!
It could probably use some blocking, and I totally put the short rows for my chest up too high, but other than that, I love it!

Pattern: Wicked from Zephyr Style
Yarn: Debbie Bliss, Cashmerino Aran, 8 balls I think
Modifications- I threw some short rows in to make room for my chest. Besides outting them in too high, it all looks good (as long as I wear a perky bra!)

She's Back from Crackbook.....

Sorry I haven't been around much- this facebook addiction is killing me!
That, and I was feeling bad that I hadn't replied to all my comments! So instead- I'll give y'all some love with some shoutouts. We all prefer to see our names in print, Don't we?

So....
Yes, Les- I've been slacking... and thanks Karma for the support on the brotherly competition and the comments on wicked... so for Les, Brenda and Karma, here is my completed Wicked...

Well, not totally completed, still need to weave in all the ends, so at the moment, it's in a blob!

And yes, Dave (my brother) did kick my butt at our next game of Scrabble.... I bow down in awe of him.

Also, here are the socks in Regia Bamboo that I knit for my mom. She was wearing them on our scrapbook weekend. It was such a nice yarn to work with, but I'll be curious to see how they hold up.

And yesterday was the Knitter's Frolic here in Toronto. I went up with Leslie, and met Lisa, Corrie and Maya there. All I bought was a book for my mom, and two skeins of sock yarn. Everybody talks about Socks the Rock, so I thought I had better try it out. And the other is a Regia in "Canadian" colour, that was on sale.

And here's a photo of a lovely tulip. My aunt was here visiting from Ottawa the other night, and brought me some gorgeous yellow tulips for my apartment. So pretty!

As per Leslie's request.....

An update on wicked....
I think I'll knit another inch, then add the pocket. And I think I'll need a perkier bra to wear with it....

Also, I beat my brother at Scrabble today! This is a rare occasion, so I took a picture. I only beat him by one point, but it still counts! Haze is the word baby, 41 points! (and yes, my sister's name is Donna, our cousins call us the D-D-D's, pronounced duhduhduh's)

Nothin'

I've got nothing for you. My first week back from vacation has been a time management disaster. I went to Snb on Tuesday, but I don't remember working on anything... maybe I just chatted?

Anyway, my final paper for the semester is done (well, almost, it needs some final edits and a conclusion, but that can wait until tomorrow), so starting today, I have three weeks to knit, knit, knit guilt free (until microeconomics starts at the end of the month....)!

I want to finish wicked, finish my mom's bamboo socks, and start a brand new project. Deciding which one will be tough....

Hi honey, I'm home!

I returned from Cuba last night, sunburned and tired. I had such a good time!
You can check out the photos here, if you want.

Now I have a ton of catching up to do, I'm not sure where to start. Especially my blog reading. Sigh.

I started with my SnB friends. Lisa posted this about blogs and comments. Wow.
I leave comments on blogs of people I don't know, only if I feel I have something useful or of interest to say. Why do people need to hear "nice job" 20 million times?
I don't feel the need for a response, and I definitely don't get upset if I don't get one.

I guess because I think this way, I don't often respond to my own commenter's, unless they have a question. It's not because I don't like them, it's more because I'm not very good at non purposeful conversation, unless it's face-to-face (then I don't shut up). Just ask my friends that call me on the phone. I probably come off as pretty rude sometimes! Once I have or have given the information needed, I'm done with the conversation.

But, I do enjoy getting comments, it's a little self-esteem boost each time someone leaves me a note. I just wasn't aware there was a need for a comment back. So, from now on, I will try to reply to all my comments, and I apologize to everyone that has left a comment and felt ignored. Please don't believe it was intentional, only a product of my awkward social skills!

So next question..... If I leave a comment on someone's blog, and they reply back to me, am I expected to reply to that?

Blow Your Top

My boss sent us a link to a personality test thingy.

I, being the procrastinator I am, immediatley dropped all the important things I was doing to complete it ( I figured that since he sent it, I was totally justified). This is what it said:

"You are under considerable stress and you are almost about to 'blow your top' but you are fortunate enough to be able to exert control. Control is the name of the game and it is so good to realise that whatever the situation may be a this time - it will pass. You need to get away from everything for a while and if you do, you will find that, strangely enough, it will seem that most of your problems and situations will seem to wash away, just as the sea may wash away 'footprints' in the sand."

I sent the quote back to him, and pointed out that it was a good thing he had approved my vacation.

He's decided he's clairvoyant.

(What vacation, you ask? One week today, I will be heading to Cuba for a week of sun, sand, beverages, reading and knitting.... Club Amigo Guardalavaca, if you want to join me, it's super cheap!)

It's About Time!

Yay! My mom finally left a comment!
