Which One of These is Not Like the Other....

I haven't posted much lately, I've been busy at work and trying to figure out this trip to New York. My cousin and her husband live in Brooklyn, but I've never gotten my ass down there. She's turning 3o this weekend, so they're having a big party. It's time for me to get my butt down there!
I was originally going to drive, but couldn't find anyone to go with me, so now I'm going to take the bus. It will cost about the same, and I can take the overnight bus (and sleep all the way, I can sleep anywhere!).
I'm so excited to go! I've been told I need to go to Purl and School Products, and I want to hit a Japanese Book store (for Japanese knitting books, of course!) that Amy mentioned. Any other suggestions?

As for knitting content.....
I've had a bit of knitter's ADD. I finished the Amazing Race sweater at SnB on Tuesday, but just got a chance to block it today. I'll post pics when it's completed.
I finished one of my Regia socks, and started the second. My mom really liked them, so I'm going to make the first one a little longer and give them to her.
I also picked up a skein of Handpainted Sheldridge Farms. When I was visiting a friend and her baby last week, she was complaining about the baby tube socks falling off all the time, so I thought I'd try to make some with heels. The first attempt was way too big, so I made up the pattern for a smaller one. Not that I've finished the second sock for any of them....

i stopped at a used book store to look for New York tourist books. They didn't have any, but I did find this Debbie Bliss book for half price.

And, I stopped at a Lewiscraft. I got their last 9 balls of "winter white" Patons Classic. I was thinking about Kool-Aid dying (Katherine was talking about having a Kool-Ade party). But then i got to my parents and remembered that my mom is a rug hooker. Not a cheesy Disney pattern Latch-hook kind of rug hooker, but the traditional kind. With wool, that she dyes, all by herself, with hundreds of colours. Ha! I can make this wool any colour I want! Why didn't I think of this before? I should buy all my yarn in white!

And, I lost my favourite hat on Friday night (yes, during the celebrating of St. Patrick's Day). It wasn't a knit hat, it was made of felt or something, and had structure. i knit myself another one, using the Basic Cable Hat pattern from Stitch and Bitch Nation, with some Manos that I bought over a year ago (and in fact have re-knit into different hats a few times!). It looks nice and all, but I'm just not a touque person. They always seem to slide up my head, making my hat head situation 1000 times worse than normal!

So, did you spot the non-knitting item?
Yup, the VC Andrews book. When I was a kid, and was reading all her books (this was before she died, before people started writing in "her style"). Anyway, for some reason, My Sweet Audrina was always my fave, and there was only one, there wasn't a series. So every time I go into a used book store, I dig through the thousands of VC Andrews books they have to look for a copy. Obviously, I found one! I'm going to take it to read on the bus to NYC.
What a dork I am!

Lisa is a Knitting Goddess

Lisa won the Amazing Knitting Race, by a landslide. In fact, she kicked my sorry ass. I bow down in awe before Lisa and her knitting greatness!
She finished her top-down cardi in less than one week!
Amazing!

Me, not so much.

This is what my sweater looked like last Thursday night:

But luckily, I had a Conference to go to Friday night and Saturday, so managed to do some catching up..... but not nearly enough!

The conference I was at was a Mary Kay one (yes, I sell it.... wanna try it, it's good stuff!?).
So I popped into the Sheep on Sunday to have a quick visit with Erin and Denny and to look for some pink yarn to "pay a tribute" for letting me catch up. The closest colour I could find was a pretty wine colour.

So, as of Wednesday morning, I was still plugging away at my first sleeve.... Lisa is a knitting goddess.
(see the pretty wine colour at the bottom? I'll use it for the sleeve cuffs too. Pretty swanky, eh?)

It was the Best of Times, It was the Worst of Times

  • I had Wilf the dog here all week while his owners were in Cuba
  • When I lost my keys this week, I realized my extra set was with my friends in Cuba
  • Canadian Music Week was on, and I got to see lots of shows, including Stars
  • Canadian Music Week was on, and I still had to get up in the morning to go to work.
  • I managed to get some knitting time in at work
  • But I made a mistake and had to rip it all out
  • I got to knit all through the Mary Kay Conference (yes Mary Kay, and it was fun!)
  • I got a reject letter from Grad school
  • I can do a BHA instead!
  • The deadline for that was March 1st
  • Lewiscraft is having a sale
  • But it's because it's closing
  • I bought a pretty ball of wine coloured yarn to do the bottom of my top down cardi!

What will this week bring?
