My Mom Rocks!

Check out the goods she got me for Christmas! What's that funny package with little needles on the right? You ask. Well my dear, those are my brand spanking new KnitPicks Options Needles. I literally squealed when I opened the box. I love love love love love them.
The needles are similar to the Addi Turbos, and the thin purple cables really flexible. The tips of the needles are really sharp (which I like), but I've been knitting non stop since I got them, and have managed to split open the tip of my finger! Oops.

But did I stop knitting? No! I just dug out some bandaids and kept going. Really, it was just like a paper cut, and it's healing quite nicely now.

Here they are in (blurry) action. My mom saw someones Green Gable on the web (probably Brenda's, I'm pretty sure my mom blogstalks all my bloglines links...), and really liked it. I've been telling her for awhile that if she sees a pattern she likes, to let me know, and I'll make it for her. So here we go!

I'm a little worried about the sizing though, when I figured out the schematics for it, it looks like the finished bust size for the largest one is like 58". That's just craziness.

Death by Knitting Accessories

Yesterday I went on a road trip with my dad to visit some relatives up at the cottage. He drove the whole way there and back, which was nice, as I managed to get some knitting done.

A few years ago, my parents were in a car accident up there. It was one of those winding cottage roads, and they hit a slippery spot, and rolled the car. They were both OK, thank god, but every time I go around that corner, I get a nervous feeling. Yesterday I had visions of us rolling over, and me getting a knitting needle in the eye.
Did I stop knitting and put all my supplies in the trunk? Did I point out to my dad what a dangerous thing I was doing, and ask him to remind me not to do it again? No, I started laughing about how it would probably be safer to knit with circulars in the car (I was using big long straight needles), and also about what title I would use for my blog post after the accident (ignoring the fact that if I died, I would actually be dead, and not able to post..... unless they have internet access wherever I ended up).

Hmm... do you think this indicates some kind of problem?

On other topics- Yvette tagged me the other day. I am not ignoring it, I'm just taking my time with it..... and yes Yvette, the fetching gloves do roll quite a bit at the edges. But I figure it won't bother me because they aren't for me!

I hope everyone has a Happy Holiday!

It's not because you think I'm witty.....

that Yvette wanted me to post, she only wanted to tag me with a meme......

THE RULES: Each player of this game starts with the ‘6 weird things about you.’ People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 6 weird things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave a comment that says ‘you are tagged’ in their comments and tell them to read your blog.”

1. I love Brussels sprouts. I will eat them every day if I have them.

2. I poop a lot. Like A LOT. The doctor says I have a high motility rate. I can eat an orange and see pulp within an hour. And I have no qualms talking about it. I love the poo talk. Wanna talk poo? I'm in. Call me.

3. I have an irrational dislike for spiders. I know that's not unusual, but this part is...... I have to flush them down the toilet after I kill them. If you don't, there is a chance they will mutate and crawl out of the garbage can and kill you while you're sleeping. Seriously, I feel sick just thinking about it.

4. I'm left handed, but I do almost everything except write with my right hand. My dad took me to the driving range once (only once, he said "with practice I might be O.K.", just O.K.!). He is right handed but golf's left handed, so he assumed that me being left handed would mean I would golf left handed. It took us awhile to figure out why I looked extra retarded trying to hit the little ball. I'm not sure why that is. Am I really ambidextrous? Or did growing up in a right handed world make me adapt? Who knows.

5. Talking animals always make me laugh. Those beavers on the Bell commercials... crack me up! Kids movies- same!

6. I sleep with the radio on. I don't know why anymore, just habit I guess. Sometimes I'll hear the news while I'm half sleeping, and when I wake up I'll think I dreamed it. Like I'm psychic or something. Luckily I don't often share these dreams with other people. That would make me really weird.

So, who shall I tag? I haven't seen any of my SnB pals do this yet, but who knows if they'll go along with it........ Lisa, Brenda, Elizabeth, Katherine and Corrie.... you've been tagged!

Post Already!

Sorry. I have whole bunch of excuses, but basically it comes down to a computer crash, and a lack of motivation.

Yvette says "post already", and Erin is back, so I guess it's about time I get my butt in gear.

So, there has been knitting...... some finished socks that I don't have a picture of right now...
A pair of "fetching"wrist warmers for my sister and half a pair of "voodoo" wrist warmers for my brother. Both are meant to be Christmas presents. I am hoping to have a complete pair to give to my brother by next week... I'm betting both his wrists chill equally.

December is always an overwhelming month for me. The expectations for holiday parties etc. always stresses me out a bit, and on top of that I plan all the holiday events at work, and always try to plan something for my birthday. This year I added zemester finals at school in.
But, at the beginning of the month a made a pledge to myswelf to be happy every day of the month.... no grumpiness allowed! So far so good (except for my birthday, I was a little over tiered and had a bit of a nervous breakdown including a cry at the grocery store when I got some turkey goo on me, c'est la vie). Only three more days of work, then a few glorious days of relaxing at my parents, drinking a lot of wine, and not being responsible for anyone else...... aaah.
