DACRYOCYSTORHINOSTOMY
I'm all about the posting today, aren't I?
Anyway- Just thought I'd share that I have to have Dacryocystorhinostomy on Monday. Don't know what it is? Google it, baby!
What to do when your stash is too large
Buy more!
Instead of digging into all my new yarn purchases, or even my old yarn purchases, I went out and bought some more.... I had an idea for a baby shower gift- matching hats with skull and cross bones! I don't have the right needles though, so they will have to wait until tomorrow.
So, I did dig into the new stash. The green skein is "Gauja", a 100% wool spun in Latvia, that I bought from Headwater Wool at the Creative Needlework festival. I was hanging out in her booth, because she had lots of samples/patterns in lace work, which is something I wanted to try. She talked me into making a scarf first, and told me that she has free patterns on her Headwater website. The yarn being only $5/skein, how could I resist! It's not exactly a super soft yarn, and I'm getting itchy just knitting with it (My skin doesn't always get along with wool), but the colour is pretty, and it could make a great gift!
Last week and over the weekend, I got to spend some time with Griffen, and her parents Steph and Gary. What a cutie! She's the one I bought the boots for.
And this is Wilf. His owners are in San Francisco, so he gets to stay with me for the week. He's old, so he pretty much sleeps all day. I wish I could have a dog... I heart them!
What I need?
I had a craving for cabbage rolls, so picked some up at m & m meat markets. While they cook, I thought I would try the "Dianna Needs" game.......
Google (your name) needs in quotation marks, and see what you get.
1. Dianna needs the money from the bakery because she persuaded her parents to buy her a Volkswagen convertible when she reached the age of sixteen, and she needs the money for gasoline
2. Dianna needs to stick to the rules today, tomorrow and forever
3. Dianna needs your input in order to design the platform and the product to meet your specific needs.
4. Dianna needs several dozen committed volunteers
5. Dianna needs to win.
6. Dianna needs to recover from paying for all our dinners
7. Dianna needs an amplifier to get herself heard!
8. Dianna needs lots of Tylenol PM, coffee and chocolate.
Interesting.

from Sheep to Chic
For some reason I can't seem to post any photos today.....
Anyway, I took a "round robin" class at the Creative Sewing and Needlework Festival. There were 4 instructors, and four swatches, which are all supposed to go together to make a bag. They obviously had designed it on the fly, because there was no actual sample, but it was still good!
Lily Chin from New York did the "flap" of the bag using bead knitting. I had never knit with beads before, so that was pretty cool.
The other three sections were cabling (Fiona Ellis), Log Cabin (Denise Powell) and fair Isle (Gayle Bunn).
I can't stand the log cabin stuff. I didn't enjoy doing it (I hate picking up stitches), and I don't like the way it looks, so I'll have to come up with something else for that side.
I guess this isn't a very exciting post with no photos!
You'll have to wait until next week....

Big Boobs Aren't Much Fun
So I have totally finished the VK Short Sleeve top. All seamed, all the ends woven in. The arms and shoulders fit really well, the length is good..... but my boobs get in the way! Because of them, the rest of it just hangs, it doesn't fit around my rib cage at all. Aargh.
So, I have put it away, and won't touch any more projects to wear until I take the pattern drafting class at the Naked Sheep. Maybe I'll learn some pointers for adapting patterns.
So, in the meantime, I had to go to the yarn store for some retail therapy.....
Meet the beginnings of my Booga Bag!
The yarn is Noro Kureyon, colourway 170. I think all the colours in it will make sure it goes with everything!
And check out these cool booties I got for Steph and Gary's little girl Griffen:
I figure I've already spent way too much in the last couple of weeks... why not keep going!

Crazy Week
Wow, what a busy week this has been.
Sunday, my brother, sister and I went to my friend Chris’ to get some pics done for my mom’s birthday. He is such a great photographer, they turned out so well!
Monday I went to my friend Heidi’s to babysit her son Henry. What a cutie. 7 hours with someone he barely knows, and he was still great all day! We spent most of the morning at the park…. And I of course brought my camera.
Tuesday I had a tonne of errands to run, which was SO much easier with the car. Although I remembered what a pain parking can be. I don’t have parking at my place, just a street permit, so sometimes I have to drive around in circles looking for a spot.
Then I went back out to Chris’ place to show him the copies of the prints he took. We watched the Amazing Race, which I still don’t think I like so much this season.
Wednesday night I had my first swim class (in preparation for the triathlon I keep talking about!). I am so out of shape! I could barely swim a length and a half without having to stop and catch my breath. Oh well, I guess it can only get better. Then I of course had to stop by the pub to catch the end of the hockey game. I got all teary eyed when Eric scored his goal- I can’t believe how girly I got! That has got to stop.
Thursday was a crazy day at work, and a disappointing episode of Alias. I hope the rest of the season isn’t the same. I don’t think I like pregnant Sydney so much. A friend said they saw Jennifer Garner on the Martha talk show the other day, and she kept calling Martha dude! How sad
Yesterday was my mom’s 60th Birthday, so we all took her out for dinner, and gave her the pics we had taken. It was a lot of fun, and my mom looks great for 60!
In between this crazy week, I managed to finish the edging of the VK top- I forgot how much I like to crochet. I’ll have to see if I can find any good patterns next week at the needlework festival. When I first learned to crochet, I was making doilies, because there wasn’t anything else of interest to make. ‘Cause yeah, a 19 year old really needs a lot of doilies kicking around their apartment!

Sunday Night Updates
I started knitting the pig.... I cheaped out on the yarn, but I really like the colour, and it is super soft! Also, since this is turning out to be "the most expensive two weeks of my life", otherwise known as "TMETWOML"... cheap helps.
I've also done some seaming/assembly of the monkey (which was started a long time ago as a sort of shower gift, but now will maybe be a Christmas gift....). He looks kinda funny all in pieces like this.
AND, my yarn for the Blissful Jacket arrived- so quick! I heart knitwerx. So, I of course had to start making some swatches. I was actually hoping my gauge would be off, because I can't seem to find my 5mm needles.... So until I do some major digging in the closet, I don't think I'll be starting it yet. The yarn is nice, I can feel the lanolin in it. But it's more uneven than I thought it would be, and I've already run into a break in the yarn that was tied together.
And, a little bit more of the seaming.....
Here's the short sleeve top from the Summer VK. I got even more done after I took the pic, only one more side to go before I start with the crochet edging. I hope it will still be warm enough to wear it when I'm done! Maybe I'll aim to finish for the weekend, and I can wear it to all the birthday festivities.
Speaking of festivities.... my mom turns 60 on Friday, and then my brother is 31 on Saturday.
"TMETWOML" continues. But I do have a car now.. woo hoo!
